Math: We will be adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. We will be figuring out how many more it will take to get to 100 and 200. We will learn two math games, Capture 5 and Collect $2.
Spelling: Our spelling words all have short vowel sounds this week.

Language Arts: We will be learning about these literacy elements: character, setting, plot, problem and solution.

Science: We will be learning about nonrenewable and renewable sources of energy.
Reading: Our reading story of the week is: When Charlie McButton Lost Power.
Handwriting: We will learn how to write cursive b.
Writing: We will write a personal narrative about losing power.
We will be having Kindergarten Buddies for the first time this year!

Last week in school...
We worked with small groups to solve math problems using strips and singles and hundreds charts.
We took pictures holding super hero props, and then used those pictures and created a wreath.
Kyley was showing off her gymnastic skills at recess!
We wrote fictional stories about super heroes.
We created Super Me signs about each student.
We made super hero cutouts and hung them from the ceiling.

The First Week of School...
School begins on Monday, August 24th. There is an 11:30 dismissal.
We will be doing many back to school and get to know you activities the first week.
Math: We will also begin our math curriculum. We will start by adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers.
Handwriting: We will learn how to write upper and lowercase cursive a.
Writing: We will write a fictional story about a superhero.
Social Studies: We will learn about rules and laws. We will then compare and contrast them.
