March 30-April 3

NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY!

SPELLING TEST ON THURSDAY!

Math: We will continue learning about fractions. We will learn how to place fractions on a number line.

Spelling: Our spelling words this week all have vowel patterns.

Language Arts: We will learn how to sequence events in stories and draw conclusions about them as well. We will also learn about adverbs. Our vocabulary words this week are: raindrops, memories, homesick, farewell, airport, cellar, curious, delicious, and described. Reading: Our story of the week is Good-Bye, 382 Shin Dang Dong.

Handwriting: We will learn uppercase cursive S.

We will take a practice test for the Smarter Balanced test coming up.

We will have an egg hunt with our Kindergarten buddies.

The Last 2 Weeks of School...

We completed several language stations to review concepts learned throughout the year.



 We partner read our story of the week, I Love Saturdays Y Domingos.



 We made caterpillar contractions.


We made prefix and suffix trees.


 We made shamrocks that showed what makes us lucky.


We wrote about a person who is worth more to us than gold. 


We wrote hello spring, good-bye winter poems.


 This group of students finished their work early and got to play a game about fractions.


We watched a Reading Rainbow video with our Kindergarten buddies.


We wrote stories about a snowman who is sad because it is melting. The stories teach you all about the water cycle and states of matter.

March 23-27

Math: We will finish up learning about growth patterns on tables and graphs. We will introduce fractions.

Spelling: Our spelling words this week are all homophones.

Language Arts: We will learn how to find the main idea in stories we read and how to compare and contrast. We will also learn about comparative and superlative adjectives. March 9-20

NO SCHOOL ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY - BOTH WEEKS!

NO SPELLING WORDS THESE WEEKS!

Math: We will learn about patterns and pattern units. We will work on extending patterns out to the 100th spot without actually building the pattern. We will begin working with tables and graphs and finding patterns on them.

Language Arts: We will practice homophones. We will review adjectives and make an adjective poster. We will review prefixes and suffixes and make a prefix/suffix tree. We will review contractions and make a contraction caterpillar.

Social Studies: We will finish learning about maps and introduce natural resources.

Writing: We will write about someone who is worth more to us than gold. We will also write a spring poem.

Handwriting: We will learn uppercase cursive F and B.

We will begin taking some practice tests online for the Smarter Balanced test.

We will watch a 4th Grade play on the 18th.

The Last 2 Weeks...

We did several activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. We ate green eggs and ham. We partner read his books. We read Dr. Seuss books to our Kindergarten buddies. We watched a Dr. Seuss health video with our Kindergarten buddies. We LOVE Dr. Seuss!














We celebrated Homework Club.
These 9 students remembered their homework every time in February!


We solved math story problems using many different strategies.




We partner read our story of the week, Suki's Kimono.





 We worked with a partner to complete a worksheet about patterns. We had to extend our patterns all the way out to 100th cube!




 We reviewed adjectives and made posters about our classmates. Each student wrote one adjective to describe each classmate.  










 Mrs. Aman read us a Dr. Seuss story.
